New Plaques
If you are passing The Grange in our beautiful Rottingdean Village please do take a look at our shiny new plaques at the front entrance.
One is for our Rottingdean in Bloom Gold Award which we’ve been awarded three times in the South and South East in Bloom Competition. Such a great achievement and all praise to all the brilliant volunteer gardeners who contribute to making our village a floral display well worthy of awards.
Our second plaque is to commemorate the celebrated and versatile English painter Sir William and his wife, the excellent portrait and figure painter Mabel Pryde Nicholson, who lived in and worked from The Grange between 1909 to 2015.
The Grange Art Gallery: Romany Mark Bruce – The Nature of Being
The Nature of Being is a vibrant collection of paintings inspired by insects and plant life, by sculptor and painter Romany Mark Bruce. The collection was sparked by a fleeting moment when a ladybird landed on his dog’s nose. Bruce is also the creator of the 4m bronze Brighton & Hove AIDS Memorial which stands in the New Steine, Brighton. His monograph, Sculpting Colour, celebrating 30 years of work, was published in 2024.
