Spring 2023 at The Grange

Date published: February 4, 2023

Welcome to 2023 and another exiting year of exhibitions. We started the year with our annual Stewards gathering where we gave an update on roles and, fortified with tea and cake, broke out into small groups to discuss likes and dislikes of volunteering at The Grange. The comments were collated at the event and a brief overview given. Mostly positive there were a few slight niggles which the Committee will address and where possible rectify. We are always looking to welcome new Stewards so if you are able, or know a family member or friend with 3 hours of free time on their hands, please do let us know. February sees The Gallery opening after our January break with 21st Century Stories, an exciting collaboration or 4 artists running from 1st to 12th February. Polly Farrell, Susan White, Caroline McEwan and Janet Cawthorne come together to enjoy a vibrant, colourful, creative mix of mediums and artistic styles.

Following on we welcome Colin Hadley, 15th to 26th February. Colin’s artworks were created over the last 50 years and show the artistic range required of illustrators before the digital age. Pictures, illustrations and prints that were produced for advertising campaigns, magazine articles and children’s books. “It’s a mixed bag!” says Colin.

March sees a month long exhibition from Independent Photography South East. IPSE is an informal support group for independently-minded photographers. It seeks to help members to break out of the ‘me-too’ competitive mentality of the popular photographic press. IPSE encourages the development of an independent vision and practice unfettered by arbitrary rules.

We hope you can find time to come along and enjoy these exciting new exhibitions.
