Our thanks go to Mr Justin Brice who has assisted us in compiling this new entry to our growing Historical Archive section. If you have an interest in the history of Rottingdean and have some content that you would like us to consider uploading to the site, whether it’s photographs or interesting stories concerning local residents from the past, then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

So between 1802 and 1818 Rottingdean had two windmills in existence: the post Mill and our “Mill on the Hill” 1802 smock Mill which of course is still standing today.

Did you know that Rottingdean Heritage is responsible for the upkeep of this iconic remaining mill and that we rely exclusively on legacies and donations to fund all of our work?
