Nevill Road

Named after The Nevill family (Marquis of Abergavenny) who owned much land here and at Lewes.

However, some earlier postcards show it as Hill Road or spell it ‘Neville,’ (probably confused with Charles Neville the developer.)

At the foot of Nevill Road were the Reading Room, the infant and junior schools and several cottages where tradesmen lived.
